  • Children in Need Friday 18th November 2022

Wed 16 Nov 2022 Mrs McMaster

It’s that time of year again! The Children at our school are hoping to raise some money for ‘Children in Need’ and we need your support. This year we want your child/children to dress ‘spotty” and dress up in any of the following: Pudsey t-shirts, ears, something yellow, something spotty or any Children in Need merchandise. We will be asking for a £1 donation which will go to the ‘Children in Need’ charity. Donations will be collected from classrooms by the Head Boy and Head Girl. If you would prefer to make a card (cashless) payment this can be made at the school office or you can make a payment via bank transfer. Bank details can be obtained from the office.
We hope that you will help support this worthwhile cause.  It looks like it is going to be a fun and exciting day for the children to take part in.

  • Odd Socks Day Wednesday 16th November 2022

Mon 14 Nov 2022 Mrs McMaster

    This week marks Anti-Bullying Week from 14th - 18th November 2022.

The theme this year is “Reach out to stop bullying.” In order to celebrate diversity, we will participate in ‘Odd Socks Day’ on Wednesday 16th November 2022. Children must wear their uniform to school, but can also wear colourful odd socks to signify that we are all different and all equal. It is a great opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique! No monetary contribution is required to take part.
During lunchtimes this week, a sketch pad and coloured pencils (lead by our Head Boy, Head Girl and deputies from Year 6) will be available in the computer room for children from all years to write kind messages and help children reach out to each other in a positive way.

There will be an Anti-Bullying assembly and children will be participating in surveys in our determination to tackle and reduce all instances of bullying, which will be discussed at school council.

  • Parents' Evening: Teacher consultations and opportunities to view your child's work

Wed 02 Nov 2022 Mr. Simpson

    Dear Parent / Carer,

I'm pleased to announce our arrangements for parents' consultations for this term.  Please read carefully.

During the disruption due to Covid-19 over the last 2-3 years, we have had to adapt and learn new methods of meeting with parents and showcasing the children's work.

Throughout this time, we have considered your parent feedback and found that some prefer the use of technology, while some don't.  Some parents want to speak in depth to the teacher, some only want to see their child's work with them.  We want to give parents and carers flexibility and options so that they can choose how and when to meet with their child's teacher, to suit their preferences and needs.

Therefore, we are going offer the following:

    • Y1-Y6 Parent 'book looks', inviting parents into the school hall towards the end of the school day to look at their child's work with them, with access to teachers and support staff for discussion.
    • Early Years (Reception and Nursery) Stay and Play at the start of the day, with access to teachers and support staff for discussion.
    • Option of separate day/time to look at child's work with them if you can't make the class 'book look' - see your child's teacher to arrange.
    • Optional additional consultation on Wednesday 16th November: 6-minute private scheduled consultations with the option of meeting face-to-face OR on Zoom.

We hope that this will give parents options that can suit a range of circumstances.

Y1-Y6 'book looks' dates, times and venue:

    • Year 2: Wednesday 9th November / 2:40pm - 3:15pm / Junior Hall (please note: access from Infant playground due to pantomime)
    • Year 1: Thursday 10th November / 2:40pm - 3:15pm / Infant Hall
    • Year 3: Thursday 10th November / 2:40pm - 3:15pm / Junior Hall
    • Year 5: Friday 11th November / 2:40pm - 3:15pm  / Infant Hall
    • Year 6: Friday 11th November / 2:40pm - 3:15pm / Junior Hall
    • Year 4: Tuesday 15th November / 2:40pm - 3:15pm / Infant Hall

The Early Years (Reception and Nursery) Stay and Play:

    • Reception & Nursery: Tuesday 15th November / 9:00am / Early Years Classrooms

You DO NOT need to make an time appointment for these sessions above.

    Private Parent Consultations - Wednesday 16th November 3:30 - 5:45pm

Once you have seen your child's work with them and had chance to briefly speak to the teacher, you may wish to book an additional private appointment, via Zoom or in person.  As we have work ongoing in school, we cannot have children unsupervised on site.  Therefore, if you are bringing your child (and any siblings), parents MUST keep them with them at all times.  Children are not allowed to play together in different parts of the school while you meet the teacher(s).

We will publish a booking form and optional Zoom link soon for you to book a teacher appointment, should you wish to make one.

I hope that you enjoy looking at your child's work and progress with them, and that our options give you the chances you need to ask questions and understand how your child is getting on at school.

    Kind regards,

    Rob Simpson
