Welcome to Year 1!
Hi our Teacher is Mrs Ghader and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Nugent. We hope you enjoy looking at all of the photos and videos of all of the wonderful things we have been doing so far this year!
P.E days are Mondays and Thursdays. Please make sure you have your P.E kits in on these days.
Homework is given out every Friday and needs to be handed in to Mrs Ghader by the following Wednesday for marking.
Creative Week
As this week has been creative week, Year 1 have been doing lots of creative things around the story 'What if..?' by Anthony Browne.
We have done lots of writing including Party invitations, baking a chocolate cake in Maths using our measures and practised a Dance for Tom's party in P.E.
In music we made a piece of music for the party. Here is a video of the music.
Football
Today the class were lucky enough to have football coaches from the F.A. come in and help develop their football skills. We had a really fun time and all the children enjoyed themselves.
History students
This morning we were lucky enough to have some students from Hope University to talk about how our toys are different from toys from a long time ago. The children had to look at their own toy as well as listen to what toys were like many years ago.
Egg Box Challenge
Yesterday the children went to the sensory garden in Early Years. We had to look for 6 different things:
1. A tiny, green leaf.
2. Animal Evidence.
3. Something blue.
4. A seed.
5. Something not natural.
6. It doesn't grow.
Children had lots of fun and found evidence of an animal really difficult to find. We did find a snails shell and a feather though.
World Book Day!!
On Thursday this week it was World Book Day and the children where able to get dressed up. Here you can see the children with their friends.
Science week
This week it has been science week. Our school was invited to Gateacre Secondary School to see how the human body works. The children really enjoyed it as you can see from the photos.
Science Week
At the start of the week we had the Owl Man come in with some of his Owls. The children really enjoyed this and many of them got to hold one on their hand.
