Free School Meal entitlement - ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?

Dear Parents / Carers,

Perhaps now more than ever, claiming Free School Meals for your child is important in accessing the support you and the family could be entitled to.

In England, every child in Reception to Year 1 is entitled to a 'Free School Lunch' (universal FSM).  This sometimes means that parents do not make the application for Free School Meals through the Local Authority until Year 3.

There are two types of Free School Meal:

  • Universal Free School Meals for every Rec-Y2 child
  • Income-based Free School Meals (for parents whose household income is below the threshold set).

If you have a child in Reception to Year 2 and are not sure whether you are entitled, please follow the link below and check through Liverpool City Council.

If you find that you are entitled (perhaps you didn't know), you will be able to collect a £10 voucher to spend at Asda stores for each child in your family.  The vouchers can be collected from Belle Vale Children's Centre.

If you and your child are eligible, the school also benefits through additional funding to provide support for the children in school, called Pupil Premium.  It doesn't take long to check, so please click the link and have a look.  If you have any questions, please phone school between 9am-4pm.

Kind regards,

Mr. Simpson
