Y5/6 Football League Champions!

CONGRATULATIONS to our wonderful Year 5 and 6 football team, who are the South-East Liverpool Small Schools League Champions!

As a result of their league triumph, the team went forwards into the City Finals at Heron Eccles Playing Fields on Thursday 30th April.

Please see 'Gallery' for photos of a great afternoon.

The first game was a semi-final against Banks Road.  Norman Pannell played superbly and dominated the game from the beginning.  Two of the goals came from Brooklyn - one of which was a beautiful lobbed volley and another a great team goal.  The other goal was a world class volley by James on his left foot.  As the game drew to a close, Banks Road managed a consolation goal, but we were already perhaps thinking of the next match.  A great team performance to win 3-1!

Following this success, the boys went through to the City Final for small schools against Knotty Ash.  Norman Pannell started brightly and looked well on top, but Knotty Ash grew into the game and took the lead.  We equalised towards the end of the first half with a superb team goal; Brooklyn was released on the right wing and he used his electric pace to beat the full back, cleverly cutting it back to James on the edge of the box, who controlled, turned and fired low into the bottom right corner - surely one of the goals of the season!  Despite the team's best efforts, Knotty Ash ran out winners, but our team fought to the end and represented the school magnificently.  Well done to the whole squad!

Well done also, and a huge thanks, to Mr. Foster and Mr. Barbour who have led the team brilliantly throughout the season, and to all the parents who have helped with transport and support.
