The school is officially designated as a Primary School and is co educational. The school has a purpose built nursery. It is distinct from a playgroup in as much as it has a qualified nursery teacher and two qualified nursery nurses.

The school caters for children between the ages of three years and eleven years and was officially opened in February 1971.

The school was awarded the National Healthy Schools Status in 2006.

The school was awarded the Activemark in 2007 to acknowledge the commitment to Sport.
